How do I get Tickets?
Is there a Cost?
For the most part, there are no tickets. Shakespeare in the Park is free of charge. Just show up (early) as the seats are first come, first served, and often go very quickly.
Each partner location has the option to sell a very limited amount of tickets to VIPs in order to raise funds to cover some of the costs associated with hosting Free Shakespeare in the Park. This will never go beyond 10% of available seats and never, ever, go beyond 20% of available premium (close to the stage) seating.
Also, some of our State Park locations may ask that you donate a nominal park admission fee of $2 per person. The Barnacle raises funds for their education department by selling a limited number of VIP seats for $40 each.
What if it rains?
As Shakespeare Miami's mainstage productions are held out of doors, we're aware that rain can sometimes affect our plans! We monitor the weather radar carefully and if we feel that dangerous weather (heavy rain or severe thunderstorms) may affect the performance, the show will be cancelled. Check the website on performance days.
However, for the most part, if it looks like a few rain clouds may pass by, come out anyway... enjoy a picnic and if the rain does intrude, we will stop the play, wait out the rain and begin once the shower has passed.
If you are attending a show at our partner park in PineCrest Gardens, keep in mind that their amphitheater has covered seating. Shows will not be cancelled unless there is danger to the performers, so do come out - rain or shine.
What can we bring?
Picnics? Dogs? Children?
Pack a picnic and enjoy each of our partner parks. The parks usually open 1 - 1 1/2 hours before the performance begins.
Dogs are not permitted at our performances. Some parks do permit dogs, but they will not be allowed in the performance seating areas at any time.
Children of all ages are always welcome.
Are the plays appropriate for Children & families?
The Florida Shakespeare theater is a professional theatrical company. That said, while we strive to make our productions family friendly, keep in mind that Shakespeare's plays are filled with bawdy jokes, love scenes, smooching and occasionally some realistic violence.
What is the best age to bring a child to see a Shakespeare play?
Birth. A good strategy for young children is to bring them early, let them run around like crazy before the show, then when they are good and worn out, sit with them on the edges of the audience, or on an aisle, so if they get antsy, you can take them for a walk.
While we do not tolerate "free range" children we do understand that with parental supervision, younger children have a better experience if they aren't forced to sit still through the entire play and can get up for a walk if necessary. That said - children who are allowed to run around and disrupt the performance will be sold into slavery. No exceptions.
What about seating?
In our partner parks with out affixed seating, we recommend that you bring a low lawn chair, blanket or cushion with you, but if you prefer, a limited number of plastic chairs will be available to rent for between $3 and $5 each, depending on the park.
If the seating area does not have affixed seats and the seating area is not sloped, we enforce the following seating rules:

The area closest to the stage is reserved for picnic blankets and lawn chairs with legs that are 4" or less.

Behind that you can place your rental chairs or higher lawn chairs.

Aisles and other restricted areas may not be used as seating areas at any time.
We strongly suggest that you arrive early if you plan to picnic, or sit on a blanket. The picnic area seating fills up, very quickly. It is OK to come early and spread out your blanket , then return before the show.
NOTE: If the park is very full, we reserve the right to require people in the blanket/picnic seating area to move over a tad to make room for others.
Intermission?
Most performances have a 15 minute intermission. Feel free to visit our vendors for a snack or a souviner.

ADA COMPLIANCE: ALL ARE WELCOME
Visit each of our 2020 partner parks and amphitheaters' websites, as each offers unique accommodations.
All of our partners are fully ADA compliant and are accessible. All have accessible bathrooms. All provide integrated seating. Most have TDD/TYY systems for the hearing impaired.
